Things Digital: A Bold Typeface for Handmade Creations

I was designing a new line of candle labels when I first stumbled upon Things Digital. The moment I saw the font, I knew it had that perfect robotic edge—something that would stand out on glass jars and wooden boxes alike. It wasn’t just a font; it felt like a character, one that could bring energy to any handmade product or shop material.

Things Digital is a bold and robotic display font that immediately grabs attention. Its clean lines and sharp angles give it a modern, tech-inspired feel, yet it still feels approachable enough to work well in a variety of creative contexts. Whether I’m working on packaging, greeting cards, or digital printables, this font adds a unique personality that sets my products apart from the rest.

Bringing Things Digital to Life on Handmade Products

One of the first things I tested was using Things Digital for candle labels. I printed a few mockups on sticker paper and stuck them on small mason jars. The font looked amazing against the rustic wood grain and the soft pastel colors of the candles. It added a futuristic twist that made the labels feel both modern and handcrafted.

I also used it on a set of birthday invitations. The font worked beautifully as a title, paired with a simple sans serif font for the body text. This combination gave the invitation a balanced look—modern but not too flashy. It helped elevate the design without overwhelming the reader.

Another project I tried was creating a farmhouse-style sign for my shop. I used Things Digital for the main heading, “Welcome,” and paired it with a handwritten script font for the subtitle. The contrast between the two fonts created a nice visual rhythm that drew the eye naturally across the sign.

Using Things Digital for Labels, Packaging, and More

Things Digital has become a go-to choice for many of my label designs. From boutique tags to product packaging, its strong presence makes it ideal for short phrases and titles. I’ve used it on everything from mug prints to tote bag tags, and each time, it brought a fresh, contemporary feel to the piece.

When it comes to digital printables, I love how Things Digital looks on planner pages and printable wall art. Its clean, geometric style works well with minimalist layouts and complements other design elements without clashing.

For seasonal products, like holiday tags or Christmas cards, I find that Things Digital adds a playful yet professional touch. It’s not too over-the-top, which is great for maintaining brand consistency while still standing out among competitors.

Readability and Practical Tips for Using Things Digital

While Things Digital is a display font, I’ve found it to be surprisingly readable even at smaller sizes. That makes it a great option for product labels, stickers, and signs where legibility is key. Just be mindful of spacing and ensure that the font doesn’t get too cramped when used on small surfaces.

If you're using it for cutting machines like Cricut or Silhouette, I recommend testing it on a sample sheet first. Sometimes, the sharp edges can cause issues with cutting precision, so adjusting the size and spacing slightly can help avoid those problems.

When pairing Things Digital with other fonts, I tend to stick with a clean sans serif or a simple serif font for body text. This helps maintain balance and ensures that the overall design remains easy to read and visually appealing.

Font Features and Licensing Considerations

Before using Things Digital for commercial purposes, I always check the included styles, alternates, ligatures, and weights. Some display fonts come with additional characters that can enhance your designs, especially for logos or branding materials.

It’s also important to verify the file formats and multilingual support if you plan to use the font in different languages or regions. Lastly, make sure that the font comes with a commercial license, especially if you’re selling physical products, templates, or digital downloads.

Overall, Things Digital has become an essential part of my design toolkit. Its versatility and bold aesthetic have helped me create products that feel both unique and professional. Whether I'm working on labels, packaging, or digital assets, this font brings a fresh energy that elevates every project it touches.
